Relay for Life

The Tioga Student Council, Cheerleaders, Journalism Class, and 8th grade class participated in the Relay for Life in honor of a student at our school with cancer. It was a fun event where we walked and raised money to donate to the American Cancer Society to help them find a cure for cancer. Our team was able to donate $3085.00. To see a slide show of pictures from the event go to the Relay for Life link on the Tioga ISD website.

He Really Kissed the Pig!

We had a student vs faculty basketball game to raise money for Relay for Life. The teachers "stomped" the students! Well, they thought they did anyway.....

At the game, our superintendent, Mr. Baker had to kiss a pig. He "won" the Kiss the Pig contest. It was awesome!

Through these fundraisers we were able to raise $500 to donate to the American Cancer Society in honor of an 8th grader at our school who has cancer.

Tioga's Annual Talent Show

The talent show was held on February 25. The theme was "Welcome to Regionals" based on the television show glee.

We had 29 participants who sang, danced, and played their hearts out for a chance at the prizes. Our winners were: 3rd place - Kari Hughes, 2nd place - Jacob Harp, 1st place was a tie between Abbie Harp and Aaron Harp. Great job guys!

All the participants did an awesome job and the "glee cast" was a hit! Check out these pictures from the show!

Relay for Life Fundraisers

Various organizations at Tioga Middle School including Student Council, Cheerleaders, and Journalism, will be participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life on May 13 in honor of Chalisa, an 8th grader at our school who is battling cancer. At Relay For Life, our team will camp out overnight and take turns walking around the track to raise money and awareness and help the American Cancer Society save more lives from cancer.

Team Chalisa will be sponsoring various fund-raisers to help us reach our goal of raising $3000.00 to donate to the American Cancer Society.

* De-feet Cancer Weeks -Students can pay $1.00 to wear a hat or flip-flops ($2.00 for both) March 21 – April 1.

*Kiss the Pig – Jars will be placed in the cafeteria with the teachers’ and other faculty members’ pictures on them. Students can bring coins to put in the jars. The teacher who has the most money in his or her jar will kiss a pig at the student/teacher basketball game. You can begin filling jars on February 1.

*Student/Teacher Basketball Game – On March 7, the middle school students will play basketball against the school faculty. The game will begin at 5:00. A faculty member will kiss a pig during half-time. Donations will be accepted at the game.

*Luminary Sales – Luminaries are white paper sacks that will be displayed around the track at Relay for Life. The sacks can be decorated and will be labeled with a person’s name. Luminaries can be bought in honor of or in memory of someone who has battled cancer for $5.00.
